Jhair was 15 years old when he joined the BNUEI Advisory Board. He was a shy young man who had not participated at this level of program development. With lots of encouragement, motivation and support, Jhair’s confidence heightened and his self-esteem improved. He was now on a journey to assist BNUEI in shaping the future direction of the Teen Entrepreneur Series. By the time he was 17, and a student at the Boston Art Academy, he boldly implemented the Pieces 4 Peace, a Community Art Gallery and auctioned over 40 pieces of art and raised over $3,000 for a local community agency to support families of street crime.
Rayla, an 18-year-old young lady, questioned her ability to be an entrepreneur, stating that she had no talents and no gifts. When questioned on things that she liked do, she responded,” knitting.” Immediately the team leaders were preparing her to sell her items at the next Teen Entrepreneur Certificate Celebration. Rayla was amazed to discover that there was a market/customers willing and ready to purchase the many knitted hats and scarves that she had packed away in her closet. Now that Rayla is in college she is empowered with many creative ideas.
